"Secateurs — pruning shears — shape our bushvines during the winter pruning and are used to pick the ripe grapes in summer. Our family has, for the last three generations, nurtured our vines so that they can produce fruit of integrity. The aromas are perfumed, peppery, spicy, smokey and exhibit ripe red fruit notes. As always the palate texture of this style of wine is supple, smooth on the entry but with enough grip to end dry and refreshing. In the mouth the texture and fineness of fruit tannin and drinkability of the wine is immediately evident." —winemaker

Blend: 55% Shiraz, 32% Cinsault, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Tinta Barocca, 2% Pinotage, 1% Mourvèdre, 1% Carignan, 1% Grenache
"Juicy and direct, with kirsch, red licorice, damson plum and violet notes, backed by a lively blood orange hint on the finish. Shiraz, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tinta Barocca, Pinotage, Mourvèdre, Carignane and Grenache. Drink now. 2,770 cases imported." —James Molesworth, Wine Spectator

"The 2012 Secateurs Red Blend has abundant brambly black fruit on the nose tinged with briery and wild hedgerow. This is very natural, an unassuming bouquet, self-effacing about its fruitiness. The palate is medium-bodied with a soft entry: dusky blackberries, Chinese 5-spice mixed with cracked black pepper. It is very approachable toward the finish: a satisfying Swartland red that is so drinkable that you almost miss its complexity. Drink now-2016." —Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate

We drinkly mainly fruit fwd medium dry reds, from cab sauv, shiraz, malbec, etc. Consume a fair amount fr Spain and are a fan of well-mannered blends. Usually consume our wine over wild game entrees, so backbone required. That said, we are fans. Bold, complex, friendly, a good value for our taste. Complimented my venison hoisin stir-fry admirably the other night.
