The terrific 2001 Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata/Torriglione shows an aromatic nose of flowers, spices and menthol along with plenty of ripe red fruit and licorice flavors on a medium-bodied frame of superb length and structure. It is the most accessible of the Barolos and will be the first of the wines to reach maturity. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019.Antonio Galloni.

Good medium red. Exotic aromas of redcurrant liqueur, flowers, minerals, brown spices and mint. Silky and suave on entry, then bright and fine-grained in the middle, with terrific energy. Velvety-smooth but not quite thick. Stephen Tanzer.
