"The New World Reserve 2012 is a full-bodied Bordeaux-type blend (42% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot) with deep red color. This signature red showcases our best terroir producing a wine that is complex, round, and silky, with well-developed flavors of toasted oak, black currant, and black cherry. New World Reserve is a Bordeaux-style red blend that favors the traditional Right Bank style, with the lion's share of the grapes coming from Merlot. The big surprise here is that this wine isn't from California: it's from Virginia, one of the true under-the-radar stars in American wine. This 2012 is packed full of juicy fruit, with plum and black cherry notes, and featuring very fragrant aromas that recall fruit jam infused with vanilla. Bordeaux fans will find something to love here, as well as anyone who is looking for an appealing red that's off the beaten path.
