|"With a light straw color, the 2014 vintage opens with the soft aromas of melon and white peach, with an underlying note of pantry spice. On the palate, this wine offers a flinty first impression, evoking the freshness of summer rain hitting pavement. An initial tartness quickly dissipates, yielding to the wine's minerality. Lean but with a fleshy fruit body, this wine remains dry and maintains interest with a lingering lime citrus finish." —winemaker
Wine Anthology review:
With this 2014 we are noticing that Jenny Wagner is making her own mark on the family brand, with an adventurous swing toward a mineral focus that exploits the sophistication of which Sauvignon Blanc is capable. Rather than make a showy entrance with an overabundance of fruit, this Sauv Blanc has a loftier style as its goal, bringing to mind a well-balanced, ageworthy Sancerre. Citrus, pear, and floral notes burst from the glass with a zing of classic minerality. Not every California winemaker has the guts to attempt this kind of style, but we wish that more would!
