|"Deep red color with violet tones. Fresh and complex aroma dominated by ripe black fruits, blackberries, prunes and cassis, showing notes of violet and spices originating from elevage in the barrels. Full bodied, with well-balanced acidity, firm and ripe tannins. Elegant, long and persistent finish." —winemaker
Blend: 40% Touriga Franca, 40% Touriga Nacional, 20% Tinta Roriz
Wine Anthology review:
This sensational 2013 is a blend of the classic Portuguese varieties Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz and comes from two vineyards on the Duorum estate. Straddling two different elevations across two different areas of the Douro region, Duorum's Quinta Castelo Melhor and Quinta do Custódio vineyards have delivered a knockout effort with aromas of blueberry, black cherry, and vanilla bean. With focused, youthful energy, the 2013 shows off excellent concentration with rich fruit perfectly balanced against acidity. It's hard to believe such an impressive wine can be had for so little!
