|"An intense cherry color with ruby highlights, Añares Reserve is a 'vin de garde.' Its aromatic complexity includes red fruits, licorice and smoky tones, evolving towards spicy aromas after being uncorked. In the mouth it is long and structured, with fruit reappearing on the finish." —winemaker
Blend: 75% Tempranillo, 15% Mazuelo and Graciano, 10% Garnacha
Wine Anthology review:
The 2010 Añares Reserva is a generous, plush red in the traditional Rioja style: lots of Tempranillo spice with the addition of other varieties like Garnacha and Graciano to add complexity and extra expression. This 2010 abounds with notes of plum pudding, licorice, and espresso with an added plume of smoky warmth to balance the sweet fruit. Intense and yet respectful of tradition (without leaning into "old-school" territory), it closes with a savory finish that lingers with spice.
