"‘Veraton’ is the third wine we produce from the Garnacha grape, from vines between 30 and 50 years old, and aged in barrels for 16 months. It is a wine with an attractive collection of balsamic notes, of chocolate and black fruits, very warm in the mouth and an extremely pleasant finish." —winemaker
"Their least-expensive wine, and one qualifying for this report, is the 2013 Alto Moncayo Veraton, aged in 60% new French oak and 40% new American oak for 17 months and bottled without filtration. This is a blockbuster, 100 % Old Vine Grenache cuvée, with a deep-purple color, great intensity, loads of blackcurrant and black cherry fruit, with licorice, lavender and touch of graphite and earth. It is full-bodied and powerful and I suspect tips the scales at at least 14%-14.5% alcohol. This should drink well for 5-6 years, possibly a lot longer." —Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

"Opaque purple. Assertive black and blue fruit and licorice pastille scents are brightened by a hint of cracked pepper. Supple and sweet on the palate, offering plush blueberry and cassis flavors and an exotic violet pastille quality. Blends richness and vivacity smoothly and closes on a gently tannic note, with very good focus and persistence. Drinking window: 2017 - 2021." —Josh Raynolds, Vinous
