|"Intense ruby red in color with an ample nose of red fruit with spices and a subtle hint of vanilla. Well-structured with concentrated tannins in its youth." —winemaker
Wine Anthology review:
This wine comes from 100% Sagrantino, a grape recognized for its high level of tannin and deep, dense character. It also plays well with oak, so it's the perfect candidate for barrel aging. Italian DOCG regulations state that wines from this appellation must be at least 95% Sagrantino and must be aged at least two and a half years! In 2010, that gave us a dense, thickly layered wine with great body and strong flavors of blackberry liqueur, roasted hazelnuts, plum sauce, and a smoky touch of incense. The dark finish is accented with a rustic earth note and features sharply contoured tannins that are going to give this wine a good long life in the cellar.
