"We are proud to have pioneered wine growing in the Elgin appellation. Our family-own and family-run winery is focused on producing wines that reflects the uniqueness of the Elgin terroir. When everything we believe about winemaking comes together in one wine, we fly all seven flags of our family crest on it." —winemaker
"The 2014 Seven Flags Chardonnay is the first release from 27-year-old vines, some of the oldest in South Africa, that are Dijon clones on two facing slopes. It went through partial malolactic. It has a crisp, mineral-driven bouquet with touches of sea salt and limestone rock. The palate is very well balanced and very Burgundy-like, more Chassagne say than Meursault with a very long, lightly spiced finish, with the 30% new oak deftly integrated. This is a stunning debut." —Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate
