Wine Anthology review:
This is Ceretto's original Barolo wine, with the first bottling of this multi-vineyard blend having been released in 1962. It hearkens back to the region's winemaking style circa 1900, before single-vineyard bottlings became the norm in Barolo, and as such it's a classic example of the Nebbiolo grape. This 2011 features considerable layers waiting to be taken in, with notes of flowers, dark chocolate, and caramel underscoring the bright strawberry and plum fruit. This is classic Barolo that is still young, with another two decades of life in the bottle.
