The 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve Auguste Favier will probably be a
blend of approximately 80% Grenache (from 40 to 100-year old vines) and
the balance Cinsault and Syrah. It exhibits a deep ruby hue along with
a stunning nose of sweet raspberry and cherry fruit, melted tar, and a
touch of licorice. Full-bodied, soft, ripe, voluptuous, lush, and
silky-textured, it should drink beautifully for 10-15 years.
Bright ruby. Fresh raspberry and anise on the nose, with a licorice quality adding depth. Lush red berry preserve flavors are gently lifted by subtle minerality. Finishes with slow-building tannins and good grip. There's an understated quality to this wine that's really compelling. 91-93 points Josh Raynolds Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Regular Price: $63.99 On Sale For: $47.89 You Save 25%: $16.10 |
