This is the debut effort of the 2004 Dominio Dostares Cumal, produced
from 100% Prieto Picudo from 100+-year-old vines. The wine receives
malolactic in barrel and is aged for 15 months in new oak. It is an
impressive effort with a saturated purple color, an outstanding perfume
of spice box, vanilla, black currant, blueberry, and blackberry jam.
The wine comes across the palate as thick, rustic, and layered with
outstanding focus and a 45+ second finish. Time in bottle should tame
this beast and it should drink well for a decade. Jay Miller.
