Maison Louis Jadot Pommard 1er Cru "Rugiens" is a robust, masculinewine. Its vigorous, rich fruit, set in a powerfully built structure, iscompleted by the distinct earthy notes of its ferrous soils and alasting finish.

It will be a perfect partner for quite strong and spicy cuisine :entrecôte steak in wine, game, strong cheeses like Livarot, Epoisses,Pont-l'Evêque...

The « Les Rugiens » vineyard consists of two parcels : « Les RugiensHauts » and « Les Rugiens Bas », near the village itself, at the summitof the Pommard slope. The name "Rugiens", a derivative of rouge' (red),describes the reddish color of the soil, a result of its extremely highiron content.

Pommard can only be red. There is no grand cru wines. The best time for drinking it is after 5 years up to 20-25 years.
Good full red. Redcurrant, cherry and ripe herbs on the nose, complicated by subtle soil tones. Sweet, silky, pliant and fairly full;this really spreads out to coat the plate. A very horizontal style ofwine, and nicely filled in from the start. Finishes broad, ripe andclassically dry, with very good persistence and a medicinal reserve. 90-93 points By Stephen Tanzer
