Wine Advocate:
In 1978 Robert Parker
released his first issue of The Wine
Advocate, today he is seen as one of the most renowned wine critics in the
World. As The Wine Advocate grew bigger,
Parker decided to bring on additional critics, each with their own regional specialty.
Critics:
Robert Parker – Specializing in Bordeaux,
Rhone, and California
Antonio Galloni – Specializing in Italy

Jay Miller – Specializing in Oregon, Washington,

The Wine Advocate tasters review wines on the following
100-point scale:
96-100: Extraordinary: A wine of profound and complex character displaying all the
attributes expected of a classic wine of its variety. Wines of this caliber are
worth a special effort to find, purchase, and consume.
90-95: Outstanding: wine of exceptional complexity and character. In short,
these are terrific wines.
80-89: Barely above average to very good: A wine displaying various degrees of
finesse and flavor as well as character with no noticeable flaws.
70-79: Average: A wine with little distinction except that it is a soundly made.
In essence, a straightforward, innocuous wine.
60-69: Below average: A wine containing noticeable deficiencies, such as
excessive acidity and/or tannin, an absence of flavor, or possibly dirty aromas
or flavors.
50-59: Unacceptable.
