Huarpe Agrelo Terroir Malbec / Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

"A blend of 80% Malbec and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from Huarpe’s vineyards in Agrelo, 3,200 feet above sea level, this wine is a full-bodied but balanced example of the winery’s passion for showing what the land has to offer. It is fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged in new French oak barrels for fourteen months before bottling unfined and unfiltered. The Agrelo Winery Selection shows black and red cherries and black pepper on the nose, with balanced acidity and tannin and a prolonged finish." —importer

"This ripe and powerful red shows lots of toasty notes. Dark plum and currant flavors dominate, showing plenty of smoky accents in the mix. Asian spice details fill the creamy finish, along with hints of licorice. Drink now through 2022. 1,600 cases made." —Kim Marcus, Wine Spectator

"The 2013 Agrelo Terroir is a blend of Malbec and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon from a very balanced vintage that lent freshness to the wines. It matured in 500-liter French oak barrels and the oak feels quite integrated, and the tannins are firm but fine-grained. Elegant, combining power and balance. 50,000 bottles produced." —Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate
