Jonata La Tierra De Jonata 2006
"Classic Jonata Sangiovese notes of strawberry, wild raspberry and clove. Lives up to its name with earthy nuances emerging as it sits in the glass. Hints of cured meat and fennel also join the complex aromatic profile. Very focused wine with exceptional length. Dried strawberry and leather. As always the finish is highlighted by a vibrant acid backbone and subtle, fine grained tannins that together hint at a long life ahead for this young wine." -winemaker
"This remarkable Santa Ynez estate is under the same ownership as Napa Valley’s Screaming Eagle winery.
There is 20% Syrah in the 2006 La Tierra de Jonata, but it is dominated by Sangiovese. It reveals classic sweet strawberry and raspberry notes intermixed with tobacco leaf and soil undertones. Medium to full-bodied with supple tannin as well as beautiful freshness and vibrancy, it can be drunk now or cellared for 5-7 years. It is easily the most accessible of the Jonata big reds." -Robert Parker
