Colene Clemens Vineyards Margo Pinot Noir 2014

"Margo, named after Colene’s great granddaughter, is comprised of selected vineyard blocks and barrels; designed to be very approachable, vibrant, and broad on the palate. Lifted and high toned with great vitality, fresh red and dark red fruit mingle on the nose. Supple, refined, and structured, dark cherry and savory notes are the highlight of this transparent, concentrated Pinot noir. Consume this gem now or over the next six to eight years." —winemaker

Medium to full-bodied, the palate offers a wonderful intensity of savory and red berry flavors supported by fine-grained tannins and great freshness, finishing with satisfying persistence." —Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate

Serbolino il Picchio Brunello di Montalcino 2013

"Our Brunello di Montalcino is made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes (locally named "Brunello") of Montalcino territory. This wine is, for our firm, the top product, left to age for three years in new 50 hectolitre barrels, in medium toasted oak from Slavonia and left to fine for at least 10 months in the bottle. Its vinification is made by means of a middle-long soaking on the marcs with frequent and very intense gradual repassings in the early stages of the fermentation and with accurate control of the highest temperature. Brunello has got a limpid intense ruby colour with garnet red nuances. Its aroma is ethereal and complex, fruity and oaky. Its flavour is delicate and persuasive with a valuable structure and tannin content. Its serving temperature is 20 degrees centigrade." —winemaker

Chalone Gavilan Pinot Noir 2014

"The luscious wild child, cranberry, rose petal and sweet dried-spice notes of our Gavilan Pinot Noir go perfectly with the wine’s inherent cinnamon and high-mountain sage expression. While we made this wine to be more fruit-driven than our terroir-focused Chalone Estate wines, it shows the intriguing minerality that is the signature of the mountaintop Chalone appellation." —winemaker

Birichino Saint Georges Pinot Noir 2016

"The 2016 continues our string of savory, silky, and aromatic vintages of pinot noir, emblematic more of Birichino World, than Old or New. As with the first vintage back in 2011, George Besson’s vineyard in the lee of the Santa Cruz Mountains plays a starring role. A field-grafted, rockier, steeper section of his site now lends additional support to its bright, lifted, red-fruited floral hallmark. With the main block at Besson nearing thirty, its great natural balance and even maturation has allowed us to include an increasing proportion of whole clusters. We were also lucky to find a site in the Arroyo Seco AVA whose supple texture and delicate aromatics dovetail nicely with George’s fruit. Finally, several barrels of our Lilo Santa Cruz Mountains and Antle Chalone pinots civilize and invigorate, respectively, the final blend. As always, this wine was vinified under the mysterious and prismatic auspices of wild yeast and bottled without filtration, though this year for this first time a third of the volume was aged in cement while we entrusted our quite old barriques for the remainder." —winemaker
