Cune Crianza 2016

"Bright cherry colour with some violet nuances. In the nose, red berries aromas remain over the oaky and balsamic notes from its ageing in wood. It shows an elegance in the mouth, yet very lively, with some spice back notes and a very balanced acidity." —winemaker Blend: 80% Tempranillo, 10% Garnacha, 10% Mazuelo

"The red 2016 Cune Crianza is an affordable and classical blend of Tempranillo with some 15% Garnacha and Mazuelo that is easy to drink and understand, with a soft palate and an approachable profile. It has a bright nose with red fruit rather than black, quite aromatic and expressive. The palate is soft and approachable, very easy to drink, with a touch of freshness. They produced a whopping 4.5 million bottles of this! The bottle I tasted was bottled in April 2019 after 12 months in barrique. There are eight different lots of this wine that are bottled throughout the year, for which they try to make the most homogeneous blend possible, but some variation is inevitable. But the overall quality of this year is certainly higher than the previous one." —Wine Advocate

"Black cherry, red plum, licorice and smoke flavors mingle in this round red. Shows good density, while orange peel acidity and light tannins keep this focused. Drink now through 2028. 375,000 cases made, 10,000 cases imported." —Wine Spectator

Chateau Recougne 2016

"Robert Parker at one time called Recougne the finest Bordeaux Superieur. It is an estate that has produced wine for over 400 years, and its name is said to have come from King Henri IV in the early 17th century, in 'recognition' of the quality of its wine. The vineyard surrounds the Chateau and the winemaking facilities, and was classified under the Fronsac Appellation, which it straddles, many years ago. Merlot is best suited to the terroir and is the majority planting (75%), complemented by both Cabernet Sauvignon (15%) and Cabernet Franc (10%). Factors that contribute to the quality of the vineyard include: several parcels of very old vines of 50+ years, environmentally friendly viticultural techniques, minimal spraying, low yields through green harvesting, and excellent canopy management." —importer

Chateau de Ribebon 2015

"Merlot crafts a sophisticated and elegant wine with delicate yet admirable structure and refined red berry aromas. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc (this last one from 100 year-old vines, compared to the average vine age of 60 years) bring accents of ripe and supple fruit, with mineral undertones from the limestone supplying freshness. Oak-aged for eighteen months, this wine is all about elegance and balance. Easy to enjoy on its own, it also pairs well with grilled meats and vegetables." —winemaker

E. Guigal Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2015

"Deep and dark red, shiny. Fresh fruits with red berries and spices on the nose. The palate is full, round and racy with rounded and smooth tannins. A full-bodied, rich and intensly aromatic wine. Full with a long finish and plenty of elegance and finesse due to the well balanced tannins and fruit." —winemaker

Joel Gott 815 Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

"Rich vanilla aromas, framed by red fruit notes of plum, strawberry and cherry, fill the nose of this California Cabernet Sauvignon. Luscious Bing cherry, strawberry and raspberry flavors on the palate give way to hints of cigar box and toffee on the long, textured finish." —winemaker
