Remirez de Ganuza Reserva
"Colour: Deep, bright black-cherry colour with lighter cherry hues at the rim.
Nose: With a still glass you find very subtle aromas of cranberries and minerals. Perfect integration with the oak in which fine hints of vanilla and milky touches appear while respecting the primary fruit aromas.
Palate: An elegant palate and finesse in the finish. As it passes through the mouth it can be characterised as a wine for transatlantic tastes as a feature of the vintage." -winemaker
"Concentrated to the hilt, with molten black fruit, coconut and mint aromas. The palate is driven, tannic, pure and features dynamite flavors of black fruit, bitter chocolate and spice cake. So beautiful and big, but also showing elegance and restraint. Drinkable now but will age well for another seven years or more." -MS
"However, the 2005 Reserva has considerably more stuffing and should easily outdistance the 2006. It is a glass-coating opaque purple color with an already complex perfume of floral, mineral, spice, and black fruit elements. Dense and packed, this structured but impeccably balanced offering will evolve for 8-10 years and have a 30+ year lifespan." -Jay Miller
"Vibrant purple. Heady aromas of dark berry preserves, rose, bayberry and five-spice powder. Rich and creamy but lively, offering spicy red and dark berry flavors perked up by tangy mineral and cracked pepper notes. Becomes sweeter and smokier with air, finishing with outstanding clarity, focus and length. This is a superb example of the fresh side of this vintage in Rioja." -Josh Raynolds, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
