Casanova Della Spinetta Il Rose di Casanova 2018

"Giorgio Rivetti, the man who never sleeps, is at it again! His quest to make great wine has taken him from Piedmont to Tuscany, into the world of sparkling wines and aperitivos, and ROSATO. Il Rose is a blend of equal parts Sangiovese and Prugnolo Gentile. The six hectare vineyard sits at about 300 meters above sea level and enjoys southern exposure. Bursts of red fruit and citrus makes this a summer sipper best paired with food or conversation." —importer

Masseto 2013

"Masseto 2013 is the result of an overall late and fresh climate during the harvesting period. These are particularly favorable conditions for Merlot, which was able to ripen slowly and completely in sunny weather, without excessive heat, which enhanced a full expression of the aromatic qualities and perfect ripening of the polyphenolic content. Intense ruby in colour, the nose immediately reveals fully ripe fruitiness endowed with great freshness and complexity, underlined by delicate notes of vanilla and cocoa. On the palate, the wine is substantial and rich, with great density, and a rare tannic quality of silkiness and smoothness. Black fruit aromas are accompanied by a strong note of freshness and a long, elegant finish, which is prolonged with a delicate hint of cocoa." —winemaker

Soft entrance on the palate evolving on framed tannins with fresh ripe fruit like boysenberries lingering on fresh herbs." —winemaker

Ornellaia 'Poggio alle Gazze dell'Ornellaia' 2015

"Poggio alle Gazze dell’Ornellaia 2015 is the result of an exceptional year in which sun and cool temperatures both arrived at the appropriate time. It is a wine full of freshness with an intense straw yellow colour. On the nose it expresses intense and refined notes of mature citrus fruit, exotic fruit and white flowers. On the palate it is fleshy and juicy with a vibrant, crystalline fruitiness which perfectly reflects the sunny, but not excessively hot year. The long lingering fruity finish leaves the palate clean and fresh." —winemaker

Rocca di Frassinello Le Sughere Maremma 2008

"The 2008 Le Sughere di Frassinello is 50% Sangioveto, 25% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. This is one of the more refined, elegant wines I have tasted from this emerging property in Gavorrano. Layers of ripe dark fruit emerge in a silky, refined style that is utterly irresistible. Mint, flowers and spices follow, adding further complexity, while a final burst of juiciness has the last say on the finish. This isn’t the biggest wine Rocca di Frassinello has made, but I am deeply impressed by the classiness and length of the regal finish. As always, I recommend the estate’s wines be opened at least 30 minutes in advance, which seems to help the aromatics of these wines find their center. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022." -Antonio Galloni
