Daou Bodyguard Red 2017

"Fragrant fruit aromas of blackberry, raspberry, currant and crème de cassis. Notes of cocoa, coffee, dark chocolate, licorice and sweet cherry pipe tobacco are rounded out with whispers of truffle, toffee, mocha and menthol. A juicy, fleshy palate offers bright, generous flavors of cherry, cranberry, strawberry and blueberry tinged with black raspberry and tamarind—all supported by underlying accents of dusty leather, pencil shavings, cigar box and crushed herbs. An elegantly styled and beautifully structured finish reverberates with focused energy, vibrant berry fruit and ripe, polished tannins." —winemaker

Daou Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

"This wine displays a magnificent, compelling and inviting nose that is quintessential of Cabernet Sauvignon. Unrestrained wild cherry, currant and mulberry fragrances arise with pronounced notes of cocoa, coriander, caramelized sugar and wintergreen. Sublayers of dried herbs, cedar, tobacco leaf and slate provide substantive foundation to the aromatic profile. On the palate a veritable explosion of fresh, ripe, dark berry fruits. Tangy blackberry, juicy black cherry, pomegranate and cranberry are mingled with lovely blueberry and raspberry accents, underscored with kirsch and rhubarb. Integrated nicely with toasty oak, graphite and forest floor. Full bodied and a very silky texture, this wine glides into a long, generous finish resonating with ripe fruit and exotic spice allowing amazing aging capabilities." —winemaker

Francois Pinon Vouvray Silex Noir 2017

"100% Chenin Blanc. Silex Noir is named for the black-flint soils characteristic of two parcels totalling 3.7 hectares that go into this bottling. These sites lie on hilly south-southeast-exposed terrain, below the plateau of cooler clay soils above from whence comes Pinon's Trois Argiles bottling, but with the same underpinning of classic Vouvray tuffeau (chalky limestone) about a meter and half down. The Silex Noir vines are sunnier and warmer and more humid; botrytis tends to develop here, so harvest here happens ahead of the Trois Argiles. The vines average 40 years old. They are farmed organically." - Winery
