"Hand-picked grapes are unloaded and immediately destemmed and crushed. The fermentation begins in vats at controlled temperature of 82.4 °F. Maceration was intense and prolonged. The wine ages in vats and was stabilized and filtered over the course of one year. This wine presents a crystal clear garnet colour, with a nose full of red fruit, mellow and full-bodied, with soft tannins that gives it a lingering finish." —winemaker

Blend: 40% Trincadeira, 40% Aragonez, 20% Castelão
#20, Wine Enthusiast's Top 100 Best Buys of 2013

"The cooperative of Reguengos is now a major force in the region. This wine, named after the hilltop town of Reguengos, is a powerful, condensed wine. It has dark black fruits, solid tannins and a smooth texture. Full-bodied and worth aging. Drink from 2015." —Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast Magazine (October 2013)

Amazing and overwhelming aromas of black fruits, medium bodied, finishes with strong licorice and anise flavors, tannins are medium, long finish. Does finish with a bit of bitterness.

I enjoyed this wine but I would not call it full-bodied. In fact, I thought it was more along the lines of a Pinot Noir. It was smooth, very mellow, subtle legs and the nose was much better the 2nd day. But with the cashew kale and cucumber salmon I made, it was absolutely perfect.
