Bodegas Gancedo follows a philosophy of integration with the environment, working with what already exists rather than imposing artificial conditions on the land. This gave us a stunning Mencía from the 2006 vintage, with bold aromas that suggest blackberry liqueur laced with black licorice. One year of aging in French oak brings out a rich vanilla note that punctuates each splash of fruit. It's full and rich on the palate and yet carries its intensity with a soft elegance.
"The 2006 Gancedo was aged for 12 months in French oak. Purple-colored, it delivers an alluring bouquet of cedar, Asian spices, rose petal, black cherry, and black raspberry. This leads to a velvety textured, sweetly fruited, intense wine with excellent volume and length.
