"This is one of the wines that has made Allegrini famous throughout the world. The vineyard surrounds Villa della Torre, a splendid masterpiece of Renaissance architecture now owned by the family, and produces a full-bodied red wine that has an ageing potential of at least ten years. The blend is the historic combination of Corvina and Rondinella with the addition of a small quantity of Sangiovese. A small percentage of the harvested grapes are left to dry out until December and then added to the previously vinified fresh grapes. The result is a velvety, well-balanced red wine that proffers mature, pulpy fruit." —winemaker

Blend: 70% Corvina Veronese, 25% Rondinella, 5% Sangiovese

Wine Anthology review:
Palazzo della Torre was named after Allegrini's Villa della Torre, the historic Renaissance estate surrounded by 30-to-50-year-old vines of Corvina, Rondinella, and Sangiovese. As the most popular wine coming out of Italy's Veronese region today, it's a classic regional blend that features smooth notes of ripe raspberry and plum on an elegant bed of dark chocolate. This 2013 has a delightful raisiny note from the addition of juice from dried grapes in the final blend, like the great wines in neighboring Valpolicella.
"A linear and fresh red with pretty layers of ripe fruit. Full to medium body. Gorgeous. Drink now." —JamesSuckling.com

"A food-friendly blend of mostly Corvina Veronese (70%) with smaller parts Rondinella (25%) and Sangiovese (5%), the 2013 Palazzo della Torre exhibits the brightness and inner harmony of this slightly cooler vintage. Palazzo della Torre is one of the break-out successes of Allegrini's new lineup. The low price makes it interesting. The wine is dark and thick in appearance, and the bouquet is shaped by strength and power. Blackberry preserves, cherry confit, barbecue spice and Spanish cedar form a thick and tightly knit bouquet." —Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate

"This bright red offers brambly berry and rich sun-dried cherry and date fruit, accented by notes of dried marjoram, star anise and hot stone. Creamy and medium-bodied, with a juicy finish. Drink now through 2019. 19,740 cases imported." —Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator
