Wine Anthology review:
The Grand Brut is the perfect introduction to Perrier-Jouët's range, featuring the House's signature Chardonnay-driven character at a great price. Although Grand Brut is a non-vintage blend, Perrier-Jouët ages this Champagne for three years in its chalk cellars underneath the estate so that all the individual components come together before release. This is a wonderfully balanced Champagne with notes of poached pear, grilled pineapple, apricot nectar, and honey that dance with toasted brioche and smoke, closing with a silky finish.

"Distilled in London at Thames Distillers, Fords Gin is a collaboration between 8th generation Master Distiller, Charles Maxwell, and Simon Ford of The 86 Co. Fords Gin is made up of a thoughtful mix of nine botanicals sourced from around the world. It starts with a traditional base of juniper & coriander seed and is balanced by citrus, florals and spices that are steeped for 15 hours before being distilled. The resulting gin is aromatic, fresh and floral with elegant notes of orange blossom in a harmonious blend with citrus and juniper – each coming together to create the perfect base for any gin-inspired cocktail." —producer

Smoke, it was felt in those early days of single malt, was a step too far for most people. Today, the world has fallen in love with smoke and Lagavulin’s complex mix of seashore and moor, pipe smoke, Lapsang Souchong, bog myrtle, and rich dark fruits is a destination for many." —producer

"The distillery is at the heart of Oban - 'Gateway to the Isles'. In effect, the town grew up around the distillery, founded by John and Hugh Stevenson in 1794. Oban's attractive West Highland character reflects its location, revealing aspects of both the Highland and the Island styles. Elegant and glowing, it marries the sea air character of the Island malts to the soft, richly fruity style of the Highlands, creating its own rich tasting West Highland malt. The stills here are among the smallest in Scotland. The cramped nature of the site places severe limits on production, which in turn means that demand for Oban's richly appreciated malt is always likely to exceed supply. Few malts were ever made in the Western Highlands and only two now remain. Oban, like its home, remains their capital." -producer
